This is the first post to introduce my author website. I am preparing to publish my first novel, entitled, Bellosguardo: The Lives of Anna & Huguette Clark. In the picture above, Huguette (in white) stands with her father and older sister in a famous park in Butte, Montana in the pandemic summer of 1918.
The novel will be available on Amazon in three formats and via digital form from a host of other small publishers depending on where you live on our planet. You will be able to read the first two chapters under the Kindle tab on Amazon if you want to see if you’d enjoy the story.
I’ve been interested in Huguette Clark’s life ever since I ran across the first article that I encountered in Town & Country. I’ve read or watched multiple biographies, websites, articles, and Youtube videos compiling information to try to solve the puzzle: How did she choose to live her life after the last known public photograph of her was taken (1930)? She died in 2011, so that’s a very long time. Most people party or fritter away their inheritances. Why didn’t she? What did she do with all that time and all that privacy? I was very intrigued and captivated by what I imagined her life could have been. That curiosity sustained me through all the years of writing a long manuscript.
It took years to do the research, and two more years to write Bellosguardo: The Lives of Anna & Huguette Clark. It’s been a labor of love. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I!
Nota bene: HBO announced that they were in development with producers, a writer, and a director to create a streaming series on Huguette Clark. I am very interested in watching it to see how it differs from my dramatization of her life events.
