A Proud Moment

By now, Bellosguardo: The Lives of Anna & Huguette Clark has sold on three continents. I don’t have many reviews on Amazon (if you’ve read the novel, please comment there!), but I’ve sold on three continents. I’m proud of that! I’ve had good feedback from those who have read the story. Lots of questions. Why this? Or, why did they do that? Readers of both the biographies and my novel are left scratching their heads at some of the Clark decisions. I think this points to the difference in culture and perspective. Both Anna and Huguette come from a way of life and a culture that have entirely disappeared. Perhaps Queen Elizabeth II was the last arbiter of such a life. Today, can you think of someone better? That loss is perhaps why I wanted to capture Huguette’s life in novel form. I am intrigued by the way the Edwardians lived; by their values, traditions, slow-living, and mores. I think we are losing precious, long-valued traditions and culture as we hurtle ourselves without reflection into AI, processed-polyester-everything, and Smartphones.
